Ever since the introduction of Formica back in the ‘20s, American kitchen countertops have been covered in various materials: from laminated surfaces to natural stone surfaces like granite, marble, soapstone, and even concrete. However, there is one particular material today that is vying for everyone’s attention: quartz. Whether it’s the engineered variant (a mixture of approximately 95 percent ground natural material and 5 percent polymer resins) or pure, untainted slabs, quartz has covered many a countertop throughout the nation and is currently among the most popular kitchen building materials in Long Island and elsewhere.
